Okay, so you do actually need to wear a T-shirt when you lift at a gym. Otherwise, you may come off as one of those meaty, sweaty meatheads grunting their life away while tossing dumbbells around with reckless abandon — don’t be one of them. That being said, any ol’ T-shirt won’t do the trick when it comes to an optimal gym workout. In this case, you’ll want to ensure that the gym top you put on has technical performance qualities to keep your comfort in check as you workout. For instance, sweat-wicking properties make for an excellent material to draw moisture away from your body so that you stay drier as you lift. Also, a good gym top will prevent chafing and will not easily lose its shape in the long run.
In the same vein, sports bras are essentially a must-have for any type of workout in the gym for all women. A racerback design prevents strap slippage while you’re out and about, whereas the supportive cups hold your chest in place as you may move vigorously during your fitness activities — preventing pain or discomfort in the process.
This goes for both men and women. Do not underestimate the comfort an excellent pair of gym leggings afford.
Finding the right pair requires some finesse but once you do find one, it’ll definitely be one of your best purchases for the gym. If you’re regularly fidgeting with your leggings and having to pull them up, you won’t be able to fully focus on your performance. The last thing you would want to do in a gym is to be tripping over yourself wearing shoes that are one size too big or suffering from numbing appendages by wearing shoes that are too small. Furthermore, shoe grip is highly important as a slip while lifting heavier weights in the gym may lead to severe consequences.
